The Edge and Beyond

Edge and Beyond Student Ministries is a ministry focused on students.  We exist to show students that someone cares, to connect them to Christ and eachother, and to compel them into showing Christ's love to others through service.  Everything we do is about taking students to the next level.

Edge: 5-7 grade students.  Saturday at 6 pm or Sunday at 11 am in the Edge Room.  Join us for Active Bible Studies!  Each lesson is specifically designed to help Junior Highers apply God's Word to everyday life!

Beyond: 8-12 grade students.  Sunday 6-8 pm in the Solid Rock Cafe.

We are surrounded by the invisibles.  These are poeple who simply wnat to know someone cares, someone notices--people who want to know God cares.  Some of us would even say we feel that way--invisible to an entire world, daily passing us by.  Whether that feeling is a familiar one or not, the reality is that each one of us has felt invisible at one point or another. But we didn't stay that way.  God saw us.  He sees the invisibles. And because God took notice of us, we are able to open our eyes to see those around us.  Join us in February as we learn more about The Invisibles!

REVERB with High School Sunday School at 10:10 am in the Edge room.  Reverb is short for reverberate.  What does it mean to reverberate?  To reverberate is to create and echo.  God's word echos...it echos through history and across time.  Jesus' life echos...The things he did and said still move people today.  Does your life echo?  Maybe the better question is, "Does Christ's life and teachings echo through you"?

It's an interesting question.  If you want to know the answer, a good place to start would be to join us for High School Sunday School.

Middle School Sunday School meets at 10:10 am in the Solid Rock Cafe. Currently we are studying Sean Covey's Book, "The 6 Most Important Decisons You'll Ever Make."  It covers the six critical areas:

- school: what are you going to do about your education?;
- friends: what type of friends will you choose & what kind of friend will you be?;
- parents: are you going to get along with your parents?;
- dating & sex: who will you date & what will you do about sex?;
- addictions: - what will you do about smoking, drinking, drugs & other addictive stuff?;
- self-worth: will you choose to like yourself?;

Don't forget about Small Groups!  See Leigh for High School Small Group times, locations and topics of study.

Middle School Girls meet on Tuesdays from 2:45-3:45 in the Solid Rock Cafe at Shawnee UMC.  They are studying the book "Becoming A Young Woman of God," in addition to some good food, crafts and games!

Middle School Guys meet on Thursdays from 2:45-3:45 pm at The Bucher's, 2064 Sandy Lane.  They are studying the book "Becoming A Young Man Of God," not to mention eating some junk food and playing video games!

 Open Gyms will be held for 5-12 grade students on Thursday from 3-5 pm in the Centrum (check the calendar to make sure Open Gym is scheduled).  Be sure to bring money for the cafe...these snacks are just too good to give away! REMEMBER!  If Shawnee is cancelled for any reason, Open Gym is also cancelled!
